Experimenting With New Earring Findings

new earrings

We’ve had some great new arrivals in the BDi findings department this week, including earring findings, spacer beads and bead caps, so I decided to experiment and create some earrings using our new lever back earring findings.

Pearl Bead Earrings sea mist and coralFirst up I made this lovely simple pair of drop earrings using a single ball headpin, and threaded on some of our stunning new pearl beads in soft coral and sea mist, the perfect colours for spring time. I also used our new antique silver spacer beads and leaf bead caps to give the earrings a vintage inspired look.  These were really easy to make by simply threading the beads and findings onto the headpin, making a loop at the end with some round nose pliers, and attaching to the earring finding with a jump ring. You can find all the products used to create these below…

Top row L-R: Lever back earring findings || Ball headpins || Jump rings || Round nose pliers.
Bottom row L-R: Round pearl beads in soft coral (6mm + 4mm) || Round pearl beads in sea mist (4mm) || Antique silver spacer beads || Leaf bead caps.

Pearl Bead Earrings grey and lilac

I then made these longer drop earrings, perfect for evening wear, using the same pearl beads in victorian lilac and moonlight grey. To make these I used similar techniques as before. Firstly threaded a 4mm pearl, one of our lovely new flower spacer beads and a 6mm pearl onto an eyepin to make the first part of the earring.  I then threaded more of the 4mm pearls onto three ball headpins, which I had cut to different lengths, and made loops at the top of each with the pliers. I threaded these onto the end of the eyepin, snipped it to the desired length, and curled it back on itself to make a loop and secure everything into place. Finally, using a jump ring, I attached the loop at the top to the earring finding.

Take a look below for all the products used to create these chic pearl earrings…

Top row L-R: Lever back earring findings || Eyepins || Ball headpins || Jump rings.
Bottom row L-R: Pearl beads in moonlight grey (6mm + 4mm) || Pearl beads in Victorian lilac (4mm) || Flower spacer beads || Round nose pliers.

Both pairs of earrings were really easy to make, so why not have a go yourself? You could even use your left over pearl beads to make a matching bracelet or necklace.
Don’t forget to take a look at the whole range of earring findings here, where we have a variety of fish hook, lever back and stud earrings to choose from.

Be sure to share your designs with us on Facebook, too!
